, "Every medicinal plant has some properties, due to which it is used in different types of problems. Similarly, Asaliya is used in many places in Ayurveda. Asaliya is known as 'Asylum' in English and Chandrashur or Halim in Gujarati. The green leaves of this plant can be used as a vegetable or salad, while its seeds are used as medicine."

Medicinal properties
These seeds contain high amounts of calcium, iron, and vitamin B1, which are helpful in treating problems like anemia and vitiligo (white spots) in women. Apart from this, Asaliya is also used for problems like asthma, pulmonary TB, and cough. Along with this, consuming Asaliya seeds with honey to help in the growth of children can increase the height of children and their development happens properly.

Dr. Vishakha Chaudhary also said, “Asaliya proves to be very beneficial for humans as well as animals. If it is given to cows and buffaloes mixed with Asaliya seeds, millet, sesame, fenugreek, Suva, or jaggery, it acts like a tonic and improves the health of the animals.”
