Best Mask for Delhi Air Pollution: According to BMJ Journal, every year 20 lakh people die in the country due to air pollution. That is, the poisonous gases that dissolve in the air slowly enter our lungs and make us sick. Nowadays, the air of Delhi has become so poisonous that it has become difficult for people to go out. There is fog throughout the day, due to which it is difficult to see even a hundred meters. As soon as you go out, tears start flowing from your eyes. For people who have respiratory diseases, it has become difficult to live here. In such a situation, when people go out, they wear a mask, so one thing you should keep in mind is that when you go out, an ordinary mask is of no use to stop this poisonous air. So many poisonous gases come out from this pollution that it pierces the ordinary mask and goes inside the mouth or nose. In such a situation, what kind of mask should be worn to avoid this pollution, and what kind of precautions should be taken, we talked to Dr. Karan Mehra, Head of the Pulmonology Department at Fortis Hospital, Manesar Gurgaon.
Which is the best mask for Delhi?
Dr. Karan Mehra said that many types of masks are available nowadays. One is a simple cloth mask which was used the most during the time of Corona. The second is a surgical mask which is used by doctors. Apart from this, there are N95 masks, N99 masks, N100 masks, P95 masks and R95 masks. N95 masks are the safest to avoid the poisonous air of Delhi. It can prevent up to 95 percent of air particles from entering the body. N99 also prevents up to 99 percent of air particles from entering. In this heavy smog, doctors always recommend wearing N95 or N99 masks. Where it becomes difficult to breathe when going out, it is advisable to wear N100 masks. It stops up to 99.97 percent of air particles. N100 stops more particulate matter than N95, but it is better to wear it only when breathing becomes difficult. N95 is the best for the smog in Delhi. It prevents poisonous gases like benzene, carbon monoxide, etc. from entering the body. It also protects from pollutants up to PM 10. PM 2.5-micron particulate matter. P95 and R95 are used to stop oil-based particles. It is used in industry etc. Surgical and cloth masks are used for basic protection.
What should be done before going out in Delhi's pollution?
Dr. Karan Mehra said that the best way to avoid this poisonous air in Delhi is to not go out in the morning and evening because poisonous gases remain more suspended in the fog in the morning and evening. After this, if you go out, then there are fewer gases in the fog. In that case, go out wearing an N95 mask. This mask will feel a little tight to wear but will adjust automatically in a few days. Apart from this, drink more water to avoid the effects of this poisonous air. Keep yourself hydrated in adequate amounts. This will help in removing particulate matter inside the body. To avoid this pollution, consume more soup and juice. Drink 3 to 4 liters of water a day.
Should we wear a mask in the car or not?
Dr. Karan Mehra said that the air in the car was already filled with suspended air. That is, the poisonous air in the car is already filled. Therefore, it is wrong for anyone to think that there is no need to wear a mask in the car. Whenever you leave for the office in the car, definitely wear an N95 mask.
