New Delhi. Google has rehired AI expert Noam Shajir to strengthen its hold in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company had to pay a huge amount of $ 2.7 billion (Rs 22600 crore) for this. Shamir, who had previously worked at Google, founded his own AI startup, Character.AI, in 2021.

Noam Shajir, considered a genius in the field of AI, first joined Google in 2000. While at Google, he developed a chatbot along with his colleague Daniel de Freitas. However, when Google refused to launch this chatbot, Shajir left the company.

After this, Shajeer and Freitas together started a startup called Character.AI, which soon became one of the hottest AI startups in Silicon Valley. In a short time, the value of their startup reached $1 billion. Google signed a deal worth $2.7 billion to license Character.AI's technology and bring Shajeer back to the company. Under this deal, Google got immediate access to Character.AI's intellectual property, so it did not have to wait for regulatory approval.

What will Shajir do now?
According to Google employees, the main reason behind this deal is Shajir's return to Google. Along with this, Shajir will lead Google's AI unit, DeepMind, in developing the next-generation AI model, Gemini, which will compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Former Google CEO has praised him
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt also praised Shajir's talent and said in 2015, "If there is anyone who can develop human-level intelligence in AI, it will be Shajir." After the return of Noam Shajir, it will be interesting to see how Google improves its AI models and what new dimensions it establishes in the technical world.
