New Delhi. While responding to the discussion on Constitution Day in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the Congress. He also targeted the opposition parties, but during this time he said something that made Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav laugh. Not only this, his MP wife Dimple Yadav, who was sitting behind Akhilesh Yadav, also started laughing after listening to PM Modi in the House.
Actually, the PM was referring to the Emergency. Attacking the Congress, he pointed towards other opposition parties sitting in the House and said, “There are many such parties sitting here whose leaders were also in jail during the Emergency, it is their compulsion that they have gone there and are sitting there today. They too have been stuffed into jails.
Targeting Congress over the Emergency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Lok Sabha on Saturday that this stigma will never be removed from the forehead of the opposition party. While replying to the discussion on '75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution' in the House, Prime Minister Modi mentioned the Emergency and said, "Whenever democracy will be discussed in the world, this stigma will never be removed from the forehead of Congress because democracy was strangled. An attempt was made to destroy the penance of the makers of the Indian Constitution."
Without naming anyone, PM Modi said that the Constitution gives the message of unity in diversity, but after independence, the basic idea of unity was attacked. He said, "I have to say with great sadness that the Constitution makers had the idea of unity in mind, but after independence, the basic idea of the country's unity was attacked and people who grew up with the mentality of slavery kept finding contradictions instead of unity in diversity."
PM Modi said, "In the decisions of our government, there has been a constant effort to strengthen the unity of India. Article 370 was a hindrance to unity and hence we buried it in the ground." He said, "When we are celebrating 75 years of the implementation of the Constitution, it is a good coincidence that a woman is occupying the post of President, which is also in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution."
