New Delhi . Today on World Contraceptive Day, we are telling you about the advertisement which was the first condom ad shown on TV in India. Probably, it was also the most controversial condom ad to date. Although, Sunny Leone's condom ad for the Manforce brand also had to face a lot of anger, but the advertisement we are talking about becomes special only because nothing like this was seen on Indian television before that.

This ad was shot for the Kamasutra brand in 1991-92. The then-model and later actress Pooja Bedi was in the lead role in this ad. Apart from her, top model Mark Robinson was also a part of this ad. This ad was shot in Goa.

What was in the ad?
In this ad, Pooja Bedi and Mark Robinson were shown in the shower. Pooja Bedi was seen throwing water on Mark from the hand shower. The scenes in this ad were so bold for that time that Doordarshan banned it. It is worth mentioning that at that time there were only a few channels on TV. In that too, only Doordarshan was watched in most of the houses. The ban of the ad from there was like being banned from television.

Sexual Revolution
Actress Pooja Bedi of this ad reacted to it many years after the advertisement and said that this ad started a sexual revolution in India. Pooja Bedi became a popular face of Hindi films. After this ad, she was seen in Aamir Khan's starrer 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'. Now her daughter Alaaya F is also working in films.
