New Delhi. A loud explosion in Delhi's Rohini area on Sunday morning shocked the locals. The intensity of the explosion was so much that people could feel its echo from far away. Residents said that after the explosion, there was a 'chemical-like' smell and a cloud of thick white smoke at the spot, which spread panic in the area.

Describing the blast near the CRPF school, Kiran Sachdeva said, "The blast was not like a firecracker, the sound was very loud, and after that, there was only smoke for 15-20 minutes." She said that her house was 200-250 meters away from the spot, but the blast felt 'like an earthquake'.

According to officials, no one was injured due to the blast, but some nearby shops, school walls, and a car were damaged. The fire brigade, police, anti-bomb squad, and National Security Guard (NSG) teams have reached the spot and are investigating the cause of the blast.

Shopkeeper Himanshu Kohli said that when he heard the blast, he immediately rushed to the spot. He said, "There was white smoke in the air and there was a strong smell of chemicals. Glass windows and boards were broken."

Resident Anita Singh said, "I felt the tremors in the house and shuddered thinking what would have happened if this had happened on a weekday." Dheeraj Parana also expressed concern, saying, "This road is very busy and if this had happened in the evening, there would have been more damage."

Thirty-five-year-old Anish Malhotra said he woke up in fear when he heard the blast. "When I came out there was smoke all around, but thankfully it was Sunday and schools were closed as there are two schools adjacent to each other," he said. The area remained quiet after the blast and all shops were closed. Locals are relieved that the incident happened on a Sunday, when schools were closed.
