Central University Teaching Vacancy: There is good news for the candidates who wish to get a job (Sarkari Naukri) in central universities. When these vacant posts are reinstated, eligible candidates will be able to apply for them. As of October 31, 2024, 5,182 teaching posts are vacant in central universities. This information has been given by Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Sukant Majumdar in the Rajya Sabha. The minister said that vacancies arise due to reasons like retirement, resignation,, and d increase in the number of students.

The Minister of State said that the responsibility of filling teaching posts lies with the respective central universities. The Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) regularly instruct the institutions to make appointments. More than 7,650 teaching posts have been filled so far under the special recruitment drive.

UGC CU-Selection Portal Launched
UGC has launched a unified recruitment portal called “CU-Selection” on May 2, 2023. This portal lists the vacancies available in all central universities, making the appointment process simple and transparent.

Posts filled in mission mode
A total of 25,777 posts, including 15,139 teaching posts, have been filled by central higher education institutions in mission mode till October 29, 2024. These include appointments of 1,869 Scheduled Caste, 739 Scheduled Tribe, and 3,089 Other Backward Class teachers.

As a result of collective efforts,
institutions like CU, IIT, I ITT, NIT, IIM, IISc Bangalore, and IISER have filled a total of 25,257 vacancies so far. Out of this, 15,047 posts are for teachers. This effort of the government and the concerned institutions is an important step towards maintaining quality in higher education.
