Stock Market Today : Investors earned a lot as the stock market returned to a boom on Friday. On the last day of the week, investors earned around Rs 4.46 lakh crore. The Sensex closed at 79,705.91 points with a gain of 819.69 points or 1.04 percent. The Sensex opened with a gain and at one point during trading, it climbed up to 1,098.02 points. The market remained in the green due to buying in the shares of big companies like Reliance Industries and Infosys amid the rise in global markets. With this rise, the market cap of companies listed on BSE increased by Rs 4,46,308.99 crore to Rs 4,50,21,816.11 crore.

The 30-share Sensex closed at 79,705.91 points with a gain of 819.69 points or 1.04 percent. Out of the 30 shares of Sensex, 28 were in profit while two were in loss. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty also jumped 250.50 points or 1.04 percent to close at 24,367.50 points.

Among the companies listed on the Sensex, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel, State Bank of India, HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries and Infosys were the biggest gainers, while Kotak Mahindra Bank and Maruti were in loss.

Why is there a boom

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, at Geojit Financial Services, said that the positive data on unemployment claims in the US has dispelled the fear of recession. This has had a positive impact on the market. Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President (Research), at Religare Broking Ltd., said that the market has started to strengthen. Sensex and Nifty strengthened by more than one percent due to positive signals in global markets. The BSE Midcap, representing the shares of mid-sized companies, jumped 1.21 percent, while the Smallcap index related to the shares of small companies strengthened by 0.79 percent.

Every week, the BSE Sensex fell 1,276.04 points or 1.57 percent while the Nifty fell 350.2 points or 1.41 percent.

In other Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei, South Korea's Kospi, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were in profit while China's Shanghai Composite was in loss. There was a positive trend in major European markets. American markets were in profit on Thursday.
