At the same time, due to the shortage of potatoes, its price has started skyrocketing. Despite the Bengal Chief Minister having good relations with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, the state government is also being criticized for not being able to find a solution.
The pain of truck drivers stuck at the border;
Meanwhile, due to the stopping of trucks loaded with potatoes at the Bengal border, the drivers of the vehicles are also facing a lot of trouble. When the team of Local 18 spoke to the drivers stuck at the border, they told them about their problems. Driver Naresh said that my vehicle had been standing at the border for the last five days. The potatoes have started rotting and I am facing a lot of problems in getting food and water here. The administration is not doing anything. Meanwhile, another driver Rakesh Kumar said that the money had run out, and there was no facility for food and water. We have to sleep in the vehicle at night. There is also a danger of theft. There is also loss due to the potatoes in the vehicle getting spoiled.
We are bound by the government's orders - Bengal Police
Bengal policeman Amit Vikram Singh present at the border said that we are following the orders of the Bengal government. There is a shortage of potatoes in the state, so the supply has been stopped. Until new instructions come from the government, trucks will not be allowed to cross the border. We are also bound by the government's orders.
Potato prices increased by 50%.
