Reliance Industries : Reliance Industries Limited, the country's largest market capitalization company, plans to commission its first solar giga-factory in the current financial year. The company is moving towards achieving the target of net-zero carbon emissions from operations by the year 2035. Reliance has said in its annual report that it aims to commission the first phase of the solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant by the end of the financial year 2024-25 and increase it to 20 gigawatts in several phases by 2026.
This is a bigger goal
The solar giga-factory will manufacture PV modules, cells, wafers, and ingots, polysilicon, and glass at a single location. The company also aims to industrialize sodium-ion cell production at the megawatt level in 2025 and produce 50 megawatt hours (MWh) of lithium battery cells per year for the first time in 2026.
Will invest $ 10 billion
Reliance announced in 2021 that it would invest $10 billion over three years to build a new fuel business based on 100 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Integrated Solar PV Manufacturing Plan
Under this plan, four giga factories are to be set up in Jamnagar, Gujarat to manufacture renewable energy equipment, battery storage, fuel cells, and hydrogen. Reliance Industries said in its annual report, "We have made significant progress in setting up factories that will be part of our integrated solar PV manufacturing.
