What does research say?

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that causes sudden hair loss in patches on the head or other parts of the body. This study, published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, used data from 21,61,900 Korean children from 2009 to 2020. The purpose of this research was to know whether obesity increases the risk of immune-mediated skin disorders. If the weight of children is not controlled, then their immune systems will be adversely affected. On the other hand, if the right weight is maintained in children, it can help in reducing the risk of some skin diseases.
