When the shopkeeper tries to give you something open while buying food items, you always try to buy packaged items. Because there is the least possibility of adulteration in it. But do you know that recent research has revealed that there is the presence of microplastic particles in salt and sugar? The research claims that this has been seen not only in the products sold in the open but also in branded packaged products. This means that we are eating fine plastic particles with our food every day. Let's know what the full report is, know in detail...

All brands contain microplastics

Think tank Toxics Link, in a report released yesterday, said that almost all the brands of sugar and salt available in the market contain microplastics. The most worrying thing in this is that the highest amount of microplastics has been found in iodized salt, which is in the highest demand. This becomes a matter of great concern for us. Because people choose iodized salt to keep their health fit.

Studied so many samples

In this research, Toxics Link studied about 10 varieties of salt commonly used in households and 5 different samples of sugar. Which were purchased from various means of retail market and online. Researchers found that except for 1 sample of salt and 2 samples of sugar, all the other samples contained microplastic particles of size 0.1mm to 5mm.

Sugar and salt consumption in India

According to health reports, sugar and salt are found in abundance in India. Some reports suggest that Indians consume much more sugar and salt than the international average. Many reports suggest that an average Indian consumes more than 10 grams of salt and about 10 teaspoons of sugar in a day. This ever-increasing amount of sugar and salt in the diet is causing many diseases.
