Antim Panghal reaches India: Indian wrestler Antim Panghal, who was embroiled in controversy due to disciplinary violations in the sports village of the Olympic Games in Paris, returned home on Friday. The wrestler came into the limelight on Thursday when she tried to get her sister to enter the sports village on her accreditation card and was later called by the police. The incident shamed the country and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) decided to send Antim and her support staff back home immediately.

World Championship bronze medallist Antim, however, said she had no intention of doing anything wrong but could face disciplinary action for violating Games Village rules. Antrim, who arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here wearing the Indian team jersey, immediately walked out and refused to speak to reporters.

I did not intend to do anything wrong- Antim

Antim was knocked out of the Olympics after losing her opening bout in the women's wrestling 53kg category on Wednesday. Speaking to PTI before returning to India, the 19-year-old said, "I had no intention of doing anything wrong. I was not well and was confused. All this happened because of confusion." Later in a video, Antim admitted that she had to go to the police station but only for verification of her accreditation card.

A lot is being spread about me- Antrim

Antim further said that 'It was not a good day for me. I lost. A lot is being spread about me, it is not true. I had a high fever and I took permission from my coach to go to the hotel with my sister. I needed some of my luggage which was in the Games Village. My sister took my card and asked the officials there if she could take my luggage. They took her to the police station for verification of the accreditation card.'

He also denied that his coach was drunk and had an argument with the taxi driver over the fare. Antim said - 'My coach stayed at the competition venue and when he wanted to come back we booked a cab for him. My coach did not have enough cash and due to language problems he argued with the taxi driver.'
