The officials of the reputed government have said that all the representative nations that were once a part of united India which now include Pakistan have been invited for the ceremony to celebrate for 150 years of the IMD.

Representatives from the Middle Eastern as well as South West Asian countries are also a part of the invitation list along with countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal who received the invitation.

This includes starting with sending message through telegrams. Later on, the department took great strides compared to the former by being the first country to introduce the first computer switching message system that allowed India to transfer data round the globe and explored using the electronic computer for weather research.

India is classified as one of the developing countries using a geostationary satellite ,INSAT for the purposes of weather monitoring including information on cyclones , able to send and receive information in 24 hours.
