New Delhi. Namo Bharat Train will now be seen running in Delhi as well. NCRTC has taken a big step towards preparing the country's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). On Saturday (5 October), NCRTC started a trial run between the Sahibabad-New Ashok Nagar section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. Currently, the Namo Bharat Train runs from Sahibabad station to Meerut South.

In this trial, the Namo Bharat train was run manually to check the civil structure. Along with this, extensive trial runs including high-speed tests of the train are also planned in the next few months. The length of the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section is about 12 km. Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar are the 2 RRTS stations in this section.

The journey from Delhi to Meerut in 40 minutes
Once this section becomes operational, Namo Bharat Train service will be available for passengers from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, after which passengers will be able to reach Meerut South from New Ashok Nagar at a fast speed in less than 40 minutes.

New Ashok Nagar RRTS Station is located less than 100 meters from New Ashok Nagar Metro Station. A footover bridge is being built to connect the concourse level of the metro station to the concourse of the RRTS station.

Namo Bharat train will soon start running on 54 km
. Currently, the Namo Bharat train is running in a 42 km section from Sahibabad station to Meerut South. This section includes a total of 9 stations namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South. With the running of the Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, the length of the section will increase to 54 km, which will have 11 RRTS stations. The Delhi section has 3 RRTS stations namely New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan. Construction is in the final stage in the section between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan station. When the entire 82 kms corridor becomes operational by June 2025, passengers will be able to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.
