• After this, turmeric is applied to the idols, and dots of kumkum are placed.
• After this, incense sticks and Prasad are offered and finally, Aarti is performed.
• Many people also chant mantras and Sarpa Suktam on this day.
• The Sarpa Suktam hymn is sung to seek the blessings of the nine serpent deities, namely, Shesha, Padmanabha, Kambala, Ananta, Vasuki, Dhritarashtra, Shankhapala, Takshaka and Kaliya.
