New Delhi. Former Prime Minister of the country and world renowned economist Dr. Manmohan Singh merged with the five elements on Saturday. The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, wrapped in the tricolor flag, were cremated with full state honors at Nigam Bodh Ghat. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, other senior leaders of the Congress Party and many ministers of the Central Government were also present here.

Before the funeral, the three armies and the Supreme Commander of the three armed forces, President Draupadi Murmu, saluted former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The mortal remains of the former Prime Minister were led by officers of the three armed forces along with military bands at Nigambodh Ghat. Officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force saluted the former Prime Minister here.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's last rites were performed at Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat as per Sikh rituals. During this, his wife and three daughters Upinder Singh, Daman Singh and Amrit Singh were present. Here his elder daughter Upinder Singh lit the funeral pyre of
her father.

During the funeral of the former PM, slogans of 'Dr. Manmohan Singh Amar Rahe' 'Dr. Saheb Amar Rahe' kept echoing in the campus. Paying tribute to former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Dr. Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi said that today Dr. Manmohan Singh was given a final farewell, Dr. Manmohan Singh's humility, guidance and his contribution to the country will always remain alive in the pages of history.

Last salute to the son of the nation.
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while paying tribute, said, last salute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji from the nation and the Indian National Congress. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior leaders of various parties and foreign dignitaries were present at the funeral of the former Prime Minister.

Slogans like 'Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega Manmohan Singh Ka Naam Rahega', 'Manmohan Singh Bharat Maa Ka Lal' were raised in honour of the former Prime Minister. The last journey of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh started from the Congress headquarters. On Saturday morning, with full respect, officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force brought the mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to the Congress headquarters. Late Manmohan Singh's wife and senior Congress leaders were present here.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tribute to Manmohan Singh by laying the flag of the Indian National Congress on his mortal remains. After paying tribute, the body of the former Prime Minister was brought to Nigambodh Ghat. Many dignitaries including President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid their last respects to the former Prime Minister at Nigambodh Ghat.
