Mumbai. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai unit president Ashish Shelar on Wednesday claimed that the seat-sharing formula among the Mahayuti allies in Maharashtra is limited to only 80 seats as the ruling alliance already has 208 assembly seats and there is no need to discuss them. On the other hand, talks are also going on in the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi on the seat-sharing formula.

Apart from the BJP, the ruling Mahayuti (alliance) includes Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The alliance has not yet formally announced the seat sharing for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly. Assembly elections are likely to be held in the state in November. On being asked about the Mahayuti's seat-sharing formula and the talks going on in this regard, Shelar said, "We have the support of 208 MLAs. So there is no need to discuss those seats. We will discuss the distribution of the remaining 80 seats."

'There will be a split in MVA'
Along with this, former Maharashtra state minister Shelar also claimed that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will break before the assembly elections. MVA includes Congress, Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT). Earlier, Ajit Pawar had also said in clear words that his party will contest the assembly elections only with Mahayuti. There is no question of breaking away from the alliance.

Preparations of Election Commission:
The series of elections in the country is going to continue. Before the completion of the Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir assembly elections, elections for two more states i.e. Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly may be announced. They may be announced anytime in the next week. It is believed that these elections can be held in the month of November-December. Along with this, the Election Commission has also started the work of checking the election preparations of both the states. On Monday, it reached Jharkhand on its two-day tour.
