Jammu Kashmir : Security forces have achieved a major success in Jammu and Kashmir. Police said that they had killed three foreign terrorists in Gandoh. Apart from this, the police have also busted a terrorist module and made arrests on a large scale. Officials said that based on intelligence received from central agencies, a terrorist module responsible for recent infiltration and increased activities in the upper areas of Doda, Udhampur, and Kathua has been exposed.
Officials said that the kingpin of the terrorist module has been identified as Mohammad Latif alias Haji Latif. Apart from this, 8 members of the module have also been detained, they have been identified as Akhtar Ali, Saddam, Kushal, Noorani, Maqbool, Liyaqat, Qasim Din, and Khadim. Police said that the members of the module had helped in the infiltration of foreign terrorists. Police said that Mohammad Latif alias Haji Latif son of late Mir is a resident of Ambe Nal, district Kathua. He is the mastermind of the network of Overground Workers (OGW) in the area. He used to work as a guide/logistics etc. for groups of terrorists passing through the area.
There was contact with the handler across the border
Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the members of the module were in touch with terror handlers across the border and its members played a role in illegal and clandestine entry of foreign terrorists into India in the Samba-Kathua sector. The members of this module were also responsible for guiding the terrorists around Mount Kailash in the upper reaches of the mountains and forests of Udhampur-Kathua-Doda districts. During this period, shelter, food, and other logistics were also provided to the terrorists by the members of this module. Officials said that the members of the module have confirmed that the three terrorists killed in the Gandoh encounter took the help of the module in hiding and traveling undetected till they reached the upper reaches.
More than 50 people were questioned
Zonal Police Media Center Jammu further informed that more than 50 people living in huts in the upper areas and mountains to graze animals have been questioned. Most of them have admitted to coming in contact with foreign terrorists. They have admitted to providing food, shelter, or communication support to the terrorists. Some people did not inform the police and some have also taken money from the terrorists. Those who have informed the police on time are being considered innocent. While others are being investigated. The media center has requested the general public to inform the police as soon as they get any information about the terrorists.
