New Delhi. In view of the possibility of assembly elections in Delhi in February next year, its buzz has started. In view of the elections, the Election Commission has asked the National Capital Territory (NCT) administration to transfer the officers posted in their home districts. In a letter issued to the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the Election Commission said, 'It has been the consistent policy of the Commission that officers directly involved in conducting elections in an electoral state or union territory should not be posted in their home districts or those places where they have served for a long time.'

The Election Commission said that the term of the Delhi Assembly is ending on 23 February 2025 and elections are to be held in 2025. The Commission has the right to conduct elections before the expiry of the term of the House, so that a new assembly can be formed before the term of the current House ends. The Election Commission clarified that transfer orders in respect of officers or employees engaged in updating the voter list during the election year will be implemented only after the final publication of the voter list in consultation with the concerned Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

The normal procedure of the Election Commission is
to complete many formalities and also to set many arrangements right before the elections in any state or union territory. Under this, completing administrative preparations is given priority so that the elections can be conducted in a fair manner. Officers who have been posted at one place for a long time are also transferred. It is a normal procedure for the Commission to issue instructions regarding the transfer of officers before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Preparations of political parties begin.
The Election Commission has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Delhi and clarified its planning regarding the preparations for the elections. However, before the Election Commission, the political parties active in Delhi have already started their preparations. Along with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, the opposition BJP and Congress are also busy sharpening their election preparations. The top leaders of AAP are constantly doing padayatras and taking their agendas to the public. BJP leaders are also constantly active on the ground.
