New Delhi. The sale of sex stimulants and potency-enhancing drugs is increasing rapidly in India. According to an ET report, industry insiders say that people are overcoming their hesitations and want to improve their sex lives. This is the reason why the demand for these tablets has started increasing. Data from market research firm Pharmarac shows that sales of sex stimulants of Viagra and Cialis brands increased by 17% year on year.
Data shows that Viagra brand Sildenafil sales rose 15% to Rs 525 crore from Rs 456 crore in the 12 months ended September 2023. According to Pharmarac, sales of Tadalafil brands grew 19% to Rs 244 crore from Rs 205 crore during the same period.
Sales grew rapidly in 12 months.
Pharmaceutical data shows that in the last 12 months till September this year, sales of sex stimulant and potency-enhancing pills and medicines were ₹ 829 crores. A pharmaceutical company official said that the demand for sex stimulant medicines has increased because now people have become more liberal regarding sexual behavior and experiments.
“Companies are not shying away from launching new products because the demand is very high and they sell out very fast,” he told ET on the condition of anonymity. Most of the demand is for Ayurvedic pills.
