Eating fruits keeps us healthy. By consuming them, we get many nutrients. Minerals, calcium, vitamin D, fiber, and vitamins are found in abundance in fruits which protect us from many diseases. But do you consume fruits in the right way? No matter how much fruit you eat, if you do not consume it at the right time, then it will harm you instead of benefiting you. There is an Ayurvedic way to eat fruits in the right way, by following which you can keep yourself healthy. Ayurvedic doctor Diksha Bhavsar has told us the right way to eat fruits on her Instagram. Let's know when and how to eat fruits.
In what way should fruits not be consumed?
According to Ayurvedic doctor Diksha Bhavsar, fresh fruits are lighter and easier to digest than other foods. When you consume them with or after heavy foods, they stay in the stomach until the heavy foods are digested. Due to this it gets overcooked by our digestive juices and starts fermenting. In Ayurveda, overcooked, fermented dirt is known as Ama or improperly digested food toxins. This moist, acidic waste accumulates in our digestive system and affects the digestive system, which can lead to problems like indigestion, food sensitivities,, and intestinal inflammation.
What is the right way to eat fruits?
Diksha Bhavsar says that fruits should always be consumed alone. They should never be consumed with food or immediately after it. You can eat fruits 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. Do not eat fruits with or after food even by mistake. Do not consume them with milk or curd. If you want, you can eat fruits with plant-based milk or curd. Drink fruit juice only when your digestion is bad or you are unable to chew things properly. Do not eat fruits late at night or in the evening.
Do not eat these fruits with milk:
Try Ayurvedic remedies while mixing fruits and milk. If you like to eat fruits mixed in milk, then mix only sweet and ripe fruits in milk. You can mix avocado with milk. It can be taken with dry fruits like raisins, dates and figs. Avoid mixing all berries in milk including strawberries. When we mix berries in milk, the milk does not curdle immediately, but it curdles after the digestion process as soon as it enters the stomach. Many people like to eat bananas by adding them to milk. Bananas may be sweet, but when you consume them with milk, the effect of digestion will be sour, so both should not be taken together. Taking milk and fruit separately is a healthy option.
