IPS Success Story: IPS Shakti Awasthi cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2018 with 154th rank. Earlier, he was selected for the IRS service. Shakti Awasthi managed to reach the interview round of UPSC Civil Services in his first attempt. In the second attempt, he was selected for IRS. Finally, he became an IPS in the third attempt.

IPS Shakti Awasthi is a resident of Lucknow. He did his early education here. After this, he went to Bihar to do B.Tech from BIT Mesra. He obtained a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra.

UP cadre IPS Shakti Awasthi told in a podcast that during the UPSC interview, the panel said that your face resembles film actor Sharman Joshi. Have you seen his film '3 Idiots'? Shakti Awasthi said - yes, I have seen it. Then the panel asked him to narrate the scene of Sharman Joshi's interview.

Shakti Awasthi narrated the entire scene and at the end said the same words that Sharman Joshi says to the interview panel, 'You keep your job with you, I keep my attitude with me.' He further says that it was not easy to say this in front of the panel in the UPSC interview. I also did not expect to be selected after coming home. But I got the highest marks of 190 in this interview.

IPS Shakti Awasthi is currently the DCP of Central Noida. Before this, he has also been ASP Azamgarh and ASP Moradabad. In an interview given to Delhi Knowledge Track, he has also given some important advice to UPSC aspirants.

Shakti Awasthi says that some questions are standard. It would be better if you prepare the answers beforehand. However, giving memorized answers is not good. There should be honesty in your answers. The answers should be such that they reflect the personality. Do not speak too quickly. Give fewer answers but it is important to give good answers. Remember one more thing that this day is yours. Today you are the hero. Today there will be a discussion about you and you have to talk about your own special things. So do not be nervous. Face the interview with full confidence.

Shakti Awasthi says, keep in mind that this is a test of your personality. Therefore, the way of speaking, the tempo of your voice (which should be slow), the natural smile on your face, everything matters. Keep in mind all these small but important things.
