IPS officer Deepam Seth may have become the DGP of Uttarakhand Police, but he is originally from Uttar Pradesh. He is a resident of Shahjahanpur in UP. After his initial education, Deepam studied engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. According to the information given on his LinkedIn profile , he completed his BE during 1986-1990. After this, he earned his master's degree in Police Management from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1995-1997. After engineering, he took the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and was selected for IPS in 1994.

Where did Deepam Seth work?
When Deepam Seth was selected in UPSC, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand used to be one state. During that time Deepam Seth was the ASP of Ghaziabad and Noida. Apart from this, he was also the SP City of Agra. When Uttarakhand became a new state in the year 2000, his cadre was shifted to Uttarakhand. Since then he has been serving in Uttarakhand Police. He held many important positions including SSP Nainital, Additional Secretary Home, IG PAC, and IG Law and Order. In the year 2019, he went on central deputation. During this time he also held the post of IG in ITBP. Currently, heiss working as ADG of SSB. Now when Uttarakhand was looking for a DGP, he was the most senior officer of the state. In such a situation, he was sent back to Uttarakhand by making him DGP.
