Honda-Nissan Merger: Japanese auto giants Honda and Nissan may soon join hands to compete with giants like Toyota Motor and Tesla. According to reports, Honda and Nissan, Japan's second and third largest car manufacturers after Toyota, are considering a merger. After this merger, they will work under a single holding company and challenge their country's largest car manufacturer.
According to reports, both the companies will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Apart from this, another Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors can also be brought under this holding company, making it one of the largest auto groups in the world. Nissan is the largest shareholder in Mitsubishi.
How did Honda and Nissan respond?
Both Honda and Nissan have issued statements in response to these reports. A Honda spokesperson told news agency AFP, "We are discussing the possibilities of future cooperation between Honda and Nissan in many areas and those possibilities include the latest reports. But nothing has been decided yet."
Nissan said, "The content of the report is not something that has been announced by the two companies. It was announced in March this year that Honda and Nissan are exploring various possibilities of future cooperation. If there are any updates, we will inform our stakeholders in due time."
