The Himachal Pradesh Board Exam 2025 has been postponed for Classes 8 to 12 due to severe snowfall in various parts of the state. Several areas, including Pangi in Chamba district and Keylong and Udaipur in Lahaul-Spiti district, have been significantly affected. The examinations scheduled from March 4 to 8 have now been deferred in these regions.
Why Were HP Board Exams 2025 Postponed?
The adverse weather conditions have led to transportation disruptions, making it difficult to deliver essential exam materials like question papers and answer sheets to remote examination centers.
- The first three exams in several centers have been postponed due to logistical challenges.
- The School Education Board has announced that special exams will be conducted in April, depending on weather conditions.
- However, exam schedules remain unchanged for areas where materials have already been delivered.

HP Board Exam 2025: Which Exams Have Been Affected?
According to the official notice, the board has postponed certain exams due to extreme snowfall and damaged roads in the affected districts.
“It is notified that due to heavy rain and snowfall in the state, district Chamba. In view of the students’ interest, there has been extensive damage to roads and paths in Pangi and district Lahaul and Spiti. Keeping this in mind, the Board has decided to conduct the following examinations in these areas…”

HP Board Exams 2025: Previous Year’s Weather Impact
This is not the first time that HP Board exams have been disrupted due to harsh weather. Last year, similar snowfall conditions led to exam postponements in remote regions.
Exam Schedule for Unaffected Areas
- HP Board Class 10 and 12 exams are being conducted in a single shift from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Fine Arts exams for Class 12 conclude earlier, by 10:00 AM.
Students in the affected regions will need to wait for the revised exam schedule, while those in unaffected areas should continue as per the original timetable. The HPBOSE will announce new exam dates soon, so students are advised to regularly check the official website for updates.
