New Delhi. After voting for the assembly elections in Haryana, exit polls have been released. All the exit polls are pointing towards BJP's rout in Haryana and Congress getting a huge majority. However, the final results will be declared on 8 October. According to News18's Mahapoll, Congress may get 59 seats in Haryana, BJP 21, JJP alliance 2, INLD 4 and others 4 seats. After the exit polls, the question is now being raised whether former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is responsible for BJP's bad performance in Haryana. Is it the result of his alleged stubborn attitude and 'neglect' of BJP leaders and workers that Congress, which fought without an organization, seems to be wiping out BJP with a 'strong organization'?

Manohar Lal Khattar was the Chief Minister of Haryana for nine and a half years. Before the Lok Sabha elections, he was removed and Nayab Singh Saini was made the Chief Minister. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Khattar's image was that of a 'leader who does not listen to anyone'. From BJP leaders to workers, farmers, employees, and village sarpanches, everyone was very angry with him, and during his second term, they kept protesting and expressing their dissatisfaction, but Khattar did not take anyone seriously. BJP MLAs, ministers, and organization officials could not openly oppose Khattar due to his proximity to the central leadership and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Manohar Lal Khattar left no stone unturned in sidelining senior leaders
Anil Vij, Ram Bilas Sharma, Captain Abhimanyu, and Om Prakash Dhankar, who were once the identity of BJP in Haryana. Anil Vij's dispute with Khattar while he was the Home Minister was not hidden from anyone. Similarly, Om Prakash Dhankar was removed from the post of BJP State President at the behest of Manohar Lal Khattar. Captain Abhimanyu wanted to contest from Hisar seat in the 2024 elections, but Manohar Lal Khattar's favorite Ranjit Singh got the ticket. Ranjit lost the election. Due to a lack of attention in the government, the influence of old leaders among the public decreased.

Manohar Lal Khattar could not raise second-line leaders
. While he sidelined senior leaders, he could not prepare the next generation of leaders in BJP. The reason for this was that he did not give power to MLAs, ministers, or people of the organization. Ministers and MLAs could not even get the legitimate work of their supporters done. As a result, their workers left them. Khattar did not promote the office bearers of the BJP organization as well.

Property ID and Family Identity Card
It is believed that Manohar Lal Khattar remained surrounded by bureaucracy during his tenure as Chief Minister. At the behest of the officers, he implemented schemes like Family ID and Family Identity Card without proper preparation and without knowing its consequences. People had to face a lot of problems due to these two schemes and people turned against the BJP.

Trouble with the small government
: In Haryana, Sarpanchs play an important role in strengthening or weakening any party. But, Manohar Lal Khattar, while being the Chief Minister, reduced the financial powers of Sarpanchs to a great extent. When Sarpanchs staged protests, the decision was suspended. When Panchayat elections were not held in between, the decision was implemented. This also annoyed the Sarpanchs.

Khattar could not handle the farmers' movement
in Haryana properly and could not assess its consequences properly. The result was that in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in many villages, farmers protested heavily against BJP candidates, which hurt the party.

Distance from workers:
Manohar Lal Khattar's distance from common workers grew during his tenure as Chief Minister. He rarely met BJP officials. Due to this, BJP officials and workers became disappointed. Due to not getting any power, he was not able to get small tasks done for his supporters and in this election, he did not work for the party with enthusiasm, which he was supposed to do.
