Congress seems to be heading towards a landslide victory in the Haryana assembly elections. All exit polls have predicted that Congress will get an absolute majority. 46 seats are needed to form a government in the 90-member state assembly. Congress is expected to get 50-58 seats here. On the other hand, the ruling BJP is likely to be reduced to 20 to 28 seats.

Congress is definitely happy with the exit polls for the assembly elections here, but one figure can be a cause of worry for it. In fact, according to the survey of India Today-C Voter, Congress is expected to get a 43.8 percent vote share in Haryana. With the help of these votes, Congress is definitely reaching beyond the absolute majority, but the thing to note here is that in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the party had defeated BJP on 5 seats by getting 47.61% votes here. In such a situation, while making the journey from Lok Sabha to Assembly elections, about 4 percent of the party's votes got scattered.

The saffron party gains 0.8 percent of votes.
However, if we look at the last assembly elections, Congress had won 31 seats with 28.08 percent votes. Talking about BJP's vote share, according to India Today- C Voter's survey, the party is likely to get 37.2 percent votes here. If we look at the data of the last assembly elections, BJP had won 40 seats with 36.49 percent votes. That means the saffron party has gained 0.8 percent votes this time, but is likely to lose 10 to 20 seats.

If votes are increasing then how are seats decreasing?
Then the question arises that if BJP's votes have increased in this assembly election then how are its seats decreasing? Other parties like JJP and INLD are a big factor behind this. In the last assembly elections, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) led by former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala had won 10 seats. It got 14.8 percent votes in the state.

However, this time the state witnessed a bipolar election and in the fight between Congress and BJP, no third party could attract voters. The same results are seen in the exit poll predictions, where JJP has been shown getting zero to 3 seats with 3.8 percent votes. On the other hand, the condition of ILD seems to be even worse and it is not expected to even open its account.
