During this time, such an idol of Ganesh ji is installed in the house in which his vehicle Mushak i.e. rat is also present with him. Why did Ganesh Ji make the rat his vehicle?

According to the mythological tale, once Devraj Indra was discussing a serious issue in his court and at that time a Gandharva named Krounch was also present there. He was repeatedly disrupting the court by doing inappropriate things. Then Krounch's foot accidentally touched Sage Vamdev. After which the Sage got very angry and he cursed Krounch to become a mouse. Due to this curse, Krounch became a giant mouse and fell straight from Indra Dev's court to Sage Parashar's ashram.

The mouse started breaking all the trees and plants in the ashram and destroyed the garden. It even gnawed the scriptures kept in the ashram. The mouse finished all the food in the ashram. Lord Ganesha was also present in the ashram at that time and was watching all this. After which he threw his noose to catch the mouse and tied it in that noose and took it from Patak Lok to Devlok. The mouse became unconscious due to being tied in the noose and as soon as it regained consciousness, it begged Ganesh ji for its life.

Ganesh Ji told the mouse to ask for whatever it wanted, but the mouse refused and said that you keep me with you. After which Ganesh Ji said that you become my vehicle from today and since then the mouse has been Ganesh Ji's vehicle.
