Most of us have been told lies about sex, if you don't believe it, then we are here to prove it. These false things sometimes not only harm us physically and emotionally but also destroy our pleasure. Here Imbue Natural co-founder Aastha Sharma tells us about some such myths.

Research has shown that women over the age of 18 masturbate at least once in their lives. This is an amazing fact because it helps in understanding sexual likes and dislikes and also helps in experiencing orgasm. But when women are told that they should not masturbate, it hinders their curiosity to explore their sexuality and their bodies openly.

2.  Giving birth will sabotage the shape of a vagina

It is very normal for the tightness to loosen a little after giving birth, but many studies have claimed that the vagina returns to its original shape within a few weeks of the baby's birth.

3.  All women experience  orgasm through intercourse

There is absolutely no truth in this because about 75% of women do not experience orgasm during sex. They need stimulation while being intimate and some women fulfill this need only through clitoral stimulation.

4.  It's okay to fake your orgasm to make your partner feel better

Well, we hope you don't have to do this, and doing so won't help either of you. Talking openly with your partner about this is the right option. This also reinforces the idea that sex means a climax, which is not the case.

5.  Too much sex will affect the vagina ( Too much sex will ruin your vagina)

The muscles of the vagina are very flexible and do not stretch even after use and return to their normal shape within a few weeks. Such lies are created to shame and discourage women from being sexually active.

6.  Only penetration is enough ( All it takes is penetration)

Sex scenes in movies and the media have led us to believe that all it takes to orgasm is to push an object in and out of the vagina. Whereas only 6 percent of women achieve orgasm during intercourse.

7.  Sex is supposed to be  like porn

Pornography is the biggest lie in itself. Mainstream porn is made only for the satisfaction of men in which women are nothing but an object. Despite this, women are shown getting pleasure in it, which is not true.

8.  Virginity is real

Virginity is a social contract designed to restrict women's sexuality. They are told how being a virgin makes them pure and holy. It is important to expose this lie spread in society so that women can know their bodies better.
