In its latest forecast, the Meteorological Department said that the national capital Delhi will remain partly cloudy on Thursday and there may be light rain in the evening. Meteorologists said that on Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Delhi reached 8.4 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 degrees below the seasonal average. On Christmas, the city's AQI was recorded in the very poor category. Delhi's 24-hour AQI was recorded at 336 at 4 pm, which falls in the very poor category. The Central Pollution Control Board has expressed concern over the condition of AQI. At the same time, Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees more than normal.

The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy skies in Delhi on Thursday and light rain in the evening. Meteorologists said that the surface air is expected to be from the north-east direction, whose speed will be less than 4 km/hr in the morning. Due to this, smog and moderate fog are likely to prevail in most areas. It has also been said that there will be dense fog at different places in the morning. The wind speed may increase as the day progresses. Then during the evening and night, the wind from the north direction will decrease to less than 4 km per hour. Smog and fog may prevail at night as well.
Dense fog till 28 December
As per the IMD forecast, dense fog may prevail in Delhi and its surrounding areas till 28 December. The situation is expected to worsen especially on 26 and 28 December. In such a situation, it is expected to affect the traffic system as well. The situation is expected to worsen especially during late night and early morning. Visibility will be low due to dense fog. During this period, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 23 and 7 degrees Celsius.
