New Delhi (Delhi NCR Schools Closed). Pollution in Delhi NCR is not showing any signs of ending. Delhi AQI is still being recorded above 400. The same is the condition of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, etc. adjoining Delhi. In view of this, the Supreme Court had decided to close all schools on 18 November 2024. Since last week, online classes have been going on in the schools of Delhi NCR instead of physical classes.
The Supreme Court had heard the restrictions imposed under GRAP 4 yesterday i.e. on 25 November 2024 (Monday). In this, it has been ordered to keep GRAP 4 in force for the time being. At the same time, the decision to open or keep the schools closed was left to CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management). The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed the schools and colleges of Delhi-NCR to conduct classes up to 12th in 'hybrid mode'.
Hybrid Mode Classes: What is the hybrid mode?
Hybrid mode has become quite popular since the Corona period. Now it is being implemented in school education as well. In the 'hybrid mode' system, students get the option to study in both online and offline modes. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said that most primary schools in Delhi and other National Capital Regions (NCR) lack the resources required to conduct fully online classes.
Schools Closed in Delhi NCR: What is the hybrid mode?
CAQM directed the state governments to ensure that all classes up to class 12 and classes of other educational institutions are conducted in 'hybrid mode'. This instruction applies to Delhi as well as NCR i.e. Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Now the state government or schools can decide how to conduct classes further. The Supreme Court will not interfere in this for now.
Sarkari School: Children of government schools are worried.
Schools were closed due to air pollution in Delhi NCR. This was an attempt to protect children from bad air. But most of the children studying in government schools were getting upset with this decision. Many students were able to have lunch only through the mid-day meal scheme. This facility was stopped for them. At the same time, many students were not able to attend online classes due to a lack of internet connection.
