How to take care of kids' eyes in Festive season: The festive season is on. After Navratri, during Dussehra and then Diwali preparations, children are in a more fun mood than adults. With the holidays in schools, the process of bursting crackers and sparklers also begins. However, as much fun as this 20-day festive season is, it is equally harmful to the health of children and especially the eyes. Most cases of children's eye injuries come to hospitals during these days. At times, this injury is so serious that the child's eyesight is lost forever and that blindness cannot be cured.
Professor Namrata Sharma of RP Centre, AIIMS New Delhi says that the coming 20 days are going to be the festive season. Every year, from Dussehra to Diwali, many children come to hospitals with eye injuries. These eye injuries are often chemical or mechanical. The risk of chemical injuries is highest on Dussehra and Diwali.
Dr. Namrata says that once a chemical injury occurs in the eye, it is very difficult to cure it. It sometimes also causes irreversible blindness. In such patients, transplantation has to be done. However, its result is also not very good. Therefore, to prevent this kind of blindness, it is important to focus on preventive measures. The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness has also said that this time everyone will focus on pediatric eye care.
Dr. says that whenever firecrackers cause injuries, they cause mechanical damage as well as chemical damage but the good thing is that chemical injuries to the eyes can be prevented, whenever you burst crackers, you must adopt some preventive measures.
. Firecrackers, sparklers, etc. are used on Dussehra and Diwali, during this time parents need to be very careful. They should let children use firecrackers or fireworks only after keeping them under their supervision.
.It is seen that children suffer the most eye injuries during this season. People shoot arrows and bows on Dussehra which also causes eye injuries. So keep these things in mind too.
. Once a chemical injury occurs in the eye, its treatment is very difficult. These chemicals can also enter the eyes through the hands. After bursting firecrackers, make sure that children wash their hands with soap. Many times, when there is a sting in the eyes, children blame the gunpowder or chemicals of the firecrackers.
. The smoke and chemicals emitted from firecrackers damage the sensitive layers of the eyes. Many times the sparks emitted from the firecrackers hit the eyes and the eyes get injured, in such a case, if children are watching the firecrackers burning, then maintain a sufficient distance. Do not give firecrackers in the hands of small children at all.
