Mirzapur : Diphtheria has struck the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh after 3 years. Two children suffering from diphtheria have been admitted to different wards in Mirzapur district. Seeing the critical condition of one child, he has been referred to Prayagraj. The other one is being treated at the divisional hospital.

Patients were not found for 3 years.
For the last 3 years, patients with diphtheria were not found in Mirzapur, however, after suddenly finding 2 patients, the health department is on alert mode. At the places where patients have been found, children are being vaccinated and antibiotics are being distributed.

Know how many patients were found:
On September 7, 2 new patients of diphtheria were found in Mirzapur district. Symptoms of this disease were found in a 2-year-old girl in Baraudha village of Lalganj. When there was no improvement even after treatment, the doctors immediately referred her to Prayagraj. At the same time, the second patient was found in Arjunpur of City Block. The second girl is being treated in the divisional hospital.

This disease is fatal.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Anil Ojha told Local 18 that diphtheria is a bacterial disease. It can also prove fatal. Children get infected with this disease quickly. Diphtheria completely affects the respiratory system. Its main symptoms are sore throat, high fever, and cold. A membrane-like structure forms in the throat of many people, which causes difficulty in breathing and eating, and drinking.

Vaccination is the only way to prevent it
. The district immunization officer said that children are vaccinated to prevent diphtheria. Children are given pentavalent vaccines in the first, second, third, and fourth months of birth. After this, diphtheria pertussis and tetanus vaccine are given between 12 and 18 months. This prevents the spread of infection and also increases the immunity of children. In Mirzapur, 10 thousand children have been vaccinated to prevent it.
