CBSE Board Exam 2025: CBSE has made a big announcement regarding the 10th and 12th board exams 2025. The board has made some changes in the board exams for high school and intermediate. The board has reduced the syllabus of classes 10th and 12th by 10 to 15 percent in an effort to reduce the academic burden on the students. CBSE Regional Officer, Bhopal Vikas Kumar Agarwal gave this information at the 'Bridging the Gap' Principals Summit organized at Brilliant Convention Center in Indore.

Aggarwal said that the aim of reducing the syllabus is to reduce the academic burden on the main students and increase their focus on important concepts. So that the students can understand the subjects well instead of relying on rote learning. He said that the evaluation structure for CBSE examinations will also be changed. Aggarwal said that internal assessment for both 10th and 12th will now be 40 percent of the final grade. While the remaining 60 percent will be based on written examinations.

There will be open-book exams for some subjects.

Aggarwal said that to promote critical thinking and application-based learning among students, CBSE has also decided to conduct open-book exams for some subjects. English Literature and Social Science are among the subjects in which this format will be implemented. In the open-book exam, students will be allowed to sit with their textbooks. Its purpose is to test the student's ability to analyze, interpret, and use knowledge.

Two-term examinations will be conducted from 2026

Aggarwal said that in the academic session 2024-25, there will be board exams for classes 10th and 12th only once. But from 2025-26, board exams will be conducted twice a year. This is part of a long-term plan to streamline the evaluation process. Aggarwal confirmed that a decision has already been taken to return to two-term CBSE board exams in 2026, although logistical arrangements are still being finalized. This change is expected to give students more opportunities to demonstrate their learning ability during the academic year.
