New Delhi. Retail inflation in the country rose to a 9-month high of 5.49 percent in September. Inflation based on the Consumer Price Index was 3.65 percent in August last month while it was 5.02 percent in September last year. Retail inflation rates are different in different states of the country. While Bihar has the highest retail inflation rate in the country for the third consecutive month, Delhi has recorded the lowest inflation rate. The retail inflation rate in Bihar was 7.5%. Whereas, this rate was 3.67 percent in Delhi.
After Bihar, Chhattisgarh stood second in terms of retail inflation rate. The inflation rate of Chhattisgarh was 7.4%. Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Haryana were also among the top five states with the highest retail inflation. Uttar Pradesh witnessed 6.74 percent, Odisha 6.56 percent, Haryana 6.20 percent, and Gujarat witnessed 6.05 percent inflation.
Here the inflation rate was more than 5 percent.
In 8 states of the country, the retail inflation rate was less than 6 percent but less than 5 percent in September. In the month of September 5.94 percent inflation rate was seen in Madhya Pradesh. Whereas in Kerala this figure was seen at 5.52 percent. Whereas, the inflation rate was 5.31 percent in Rajasthan, 5.25 percent in Punjab, 5.19 percent in Tamil Nadu, 5.15 percent in Jharkhand, 5.04 percent in Maharashtra, and 5.02 percent in Jammu and Kashmir.
Delhi is the cheapest.
The inflation rate in Delhi was the lowest in the country in the month of September. This rate was 3.67 percent in Delhi. There are some states where the inflation rate is more than 4 percent but less than 5 percent. An inflation rate of 4.27 percent has been seen in West Bengal. The inflation rate has been seen in Telangana at 4.40 percent, Himachal Pradesh at 4.59 percent, Uttarakhand at 4.67 percent, Andhra Pradesh at 4.75 percent, Assam at 4.85 percent, and 4.92 percent in Karnataka.
The inflation rate reached a 9-month high.
The government had released the retail inflation figures on Monday. Retail inflation rose to a 9-month high of 5.49 percent in the month of September due to the rise in the price of vegetables. It was 3.65 percent in August. Earlier in December 2023, the retail inflation rate had reached a high of 5.69 percent. According to the data of the National Statistical Office, inflation of food items jumped to 9.24 percent in the month of September, which was 5.66 percent in the previous month of August.
