New Delhi. Train number 12578 Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express has derailed in Kavarapettai of Chennai Division. Railway sources say that the train collided with the rear of a parked train. Some passengers were injured in this. Reports said that the Bagmati Express train collided with a freight train in Tiruvallur district. 3 coaches caught fire due to the collision of the train in Kavarapettai of Tiruvallur. Reports said that at around 8.30 pm in Kavarapettai, Bagmati Express hit a freight train from behind. The speed of Bagmati Express was said to be very high.

After the accident, the train entered the loop/line and collided with a freight train. 3 coaches caught fire and 5-6 coaches derailed. Due to this, up/down movement on the track was affected. According to the railway, there is a report of a fire in the parcel van attached to the train engine. NDRF and SDRF teams have also been dispatched to the site of the rail accident. DRM of Southern Railway Chennai has left for the spot.

The Loco pilot got a big shock on the track.
It was reported in the news that the train crew got a heavy shock and the train entered the loop line and collided with the goods train standing in the loop line. 6 coaches derailed from the train engine. There are no casualties at the moment. Some people are injured. A medical relief van and rescue team were dispatched from Chennai Central. GM of Southern Railway, DRM Chennai Division, and senior officials are going to the spot. According to railway sources, after the accident of Bagmati Express, an AC coach caught fire next to the engine, but all the passengers were evacuated from the coach. The power car attached to the engine is on fire. This is where the diesel tank is kept to run the engine. Both the loco pilots are injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

Rescue operations are in full swing.
Tiruvallur District Collector T Prabhushankar said that rescue operations are in full swing. The accident happened near the railway station, due to which rescue operations could be started immediately. Initial reports suggest that the cause of the accident is that there was some fault in the train on the track. The express train entered the loop line and collided with the standing goods train. The railway has started relief and rescue work on the spot. Most of the passengers have been evacuated from the train. No passenger has been reported to have suffered major injuries. Ambulances and a team of doctors have reached the spot. Arrangements are being made to send all the passengers from Chennai to their cities under alternative arrangements.
