In a clash with the security forces, 12 Naxalites were reported dead, according to a police official in Bijapur. This encounter took place on Thursday in the Chhattisgarh state of India.
The official ascertains that the conflict began at 9 in the morning and was centered in a forest located in Bijapur. The southern region was the primary focus as Naxalite forces were being counter attacked. This shift in battle tactics resulted in sporadic exchanges of fire, which lasted until late in the evening.
According to him, the state police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) hailing from three districts collaborated with the 5 battalions of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action – the CRPF’s elite battle in the bushes force ) and comprised the 229 battalion of the CRPF and were part of the anti-Naxalite force.
The official further added, “In this month alone, a different 26 encounters with Naxalites resulted in the death of Naxalites, including the 12 in the battle covered earlier.""
On January 12, women among five Maoists were gunned down during a skirmish with members of security personnel in the vicinity of the Madded police station, which is located in Bijapur District, Chhattisgarh. ‘According to the records, in the previous year a cumulative 219 Naxalites were neutralized by Chhattisgarh state security forces in conjunction with the Indian state police forces through combat operations throughout the state.
