New Delhi: A massive blast took place in the reactor of a pharma company in Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, August 21, in which 15 people lost their lives and many were injured. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. This incident created panic in the area.

The accident happened during lunchtime

This accident happened in the afternoon, when the company had a lunch break. Most of the workers had gone out to eat, so there were very few people near the reactor. If the accident had happened at some other time, the death toll could have been higher.

Black smoke and high flames

After the explosion, the factory was engulfed in a cloud of black smoke which was rising to the sky. Eyewitnesses said that the villagers were terrified seeing the high flames of the fire. Smoke spread all around, due to which people started having trouble breathing and they were unable to see anything.

The inspector narrated the painful scene

Circle Inspector M Buchaiya of Achuthapuram police station said the scene was gruesome. "The skin of those who died was badly damaged due to chemical burns. They were screaming loudly before they lost consciousness," he said.

Investigation continues, police and administration reached the spot

Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the District Collector and Superintendent of Police themselves reached the spot and are monitoring the situation. Investigation into this matter has also begun so that the causes of the incident can be ascertained.
