Paris: Tokyo Olympics silver medalist 29-year-old Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu missed out on winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. She lifted a total of 199 kg with 88 kg in snatch and 111 kg in clean and jerk and finished fourth. China's Jihui Hao won the gold medal with a new Olympic record. She won the gold medal by lifting a total of 206 kg. Jihui lifted 89 kg in snatch and 117 kg in clean and jerk. She created a new Olympic record by lifting 117 kg in clean and jerk.

Romania's player got a silver

The silver medal went to Romania's Mahela Valentina. She lifted a total of 205 kg. She lifted the highest weight of 93 kg in snatch and 112 kg in clean and jerk. The bronze medal went to Thailand's Surodhana Khambao. She lifted 200 kg. She finished third by lifting 88 kg in snatch and 112 kg in clean and jerk.

Chanu was in third place after the snatch round

Mirabai Chanu started the snatch round with 85 kg. She easily lifted this weight in the first attempt. She started with 84 kg in the Tokyo Olympics. Mirabai tried to lift 88 kg on the second attempt but failed. But in the third attempt, Mirabai Chanu lifted 88 kg and secured the first position. Mirabai had lifted 87 kg in the snatch round in the Tokyo Olympics.

Two failed attempts in clean and jerk

In the clean and jerk round, Mirabai started with 111 kg. She failed in the first attempt. The second attempt was successful with 111 kg and she reached the third position with a total weight of 199 kg. But her third attempt of 114 kg failed and she was out of the medal race.
