Manish Sisodia gets bail : AAP leader Manish Sisodia has got the biggest relief from the Supreme Court. The court has granted bail to Sisodia after 17 months. The Supreme Court today gave its verdict on the petitions of Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia and granted him bail. The apex court granted bail to Sisodia on the basis of delay in hearing. The court said that no one can be kept in jail without hearing for a long time.
Earlier, the court had reserved its decision on Tuesday, August 6, in which Sisodia had appealed for bail in corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan heard the arguments of senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Sisodia, and Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
What did the Supreme Court say during the hearing today
The Supreme Court said, Manish was asked to go to the lower court and then to the High Court. Then he was asked to come to the Supreme Court. He filed a petition in both the courts. After this Manish filed a petition in the Supreme Court. According to the first order, the time limit of 6 to 8 months has passed. The court said, more than 7 months have passed since the first order was issued in this case.
The Supreme Court said that the triple test will not come in the way in this case because here the matter is about the delay in starting the trial. The lower court ignored the right to speedy trial and did not grant bail on merit. At the same time, the court said, ED said that several separate petitions were filed by the accused in this case. Most of the applications filed by Manish were to meet his wife or to sign the file. 13 applications were filed in the CBI case and 14 in the ED case.
The court said that all these applications were accepted by the lower court. The lower court had said in its order that the delay in starting the trial was due to Manish's applications, which is not correct. We do not agree that the trial was delayed due to the applications.
At the same time, after Manish got bail, the distribution of sweets started at the house of AAP leader Sanjay Singh.
Sanjay Singh targets PM
Sanjay Singh said that Manish Sisodia has got justice after a long time. Every worker is very excited about this. Targeting the PM, Sanjay said whether PM Modi will give an account of the 17 months of his life in jail. Sanjay said that truth has won. He is heartily grateful to the Supreme Court.
