According to two officials engaged in the ongoing negotiations, the Associated Press reported that Hamas reached an agreement to release some of their captives as well as cease the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Talking to the media, Israel’s foreign minister said that the country is hoping for “good news in the next few hours" regarding the ceasefire that has been pending for them. In other news, Qatar who has been mediating both the groups informed that the peace talks were closer than ever to being finalized.
An Israeli official reported that, in fact, advancements had been made but the finer details were still being put together. It will also need to go through the Israeli Cabinet. All three officials wished to remain anonymous as they only held to situation under closed talks.
In an attempt to finish the 15-month old war, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar have been working together for the past one year, and along with that they are also trying to get the hostages free that Hamas had captured in their attack on October 7, 2023.
Roughly about 100 Israelis are still being held as hostages inside gaza and according to the military around one third of them have already been dead.
In light of Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration on January 20 and his envoy being involved in the negotiations, continuously intense optimism is being expressed by the officials regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement.
During a Tuesday briefing that was held weekly, “Majed al-Ansari”, a Qatari foreign Ministry spokesman said that, “negotiations are positive and productive”, and refused to share further details about the delicate issue of the negotiations.
“ Today, we are at the closest point ever to having a deal.” He claims.
On the other hand, Hamas is reported to have said that, “the negotiations had reached the final stage”.
As a consequence of the violence, large portions of the land have been turned into dust, along with the fact that 90 percent of the population of Gaza which was standing at an estimate of 2.3 million people are now left wandering in tent camps, wide scale hunger is prevalent in the entire area.
During an airstrike on Gaza, at least 18 Palestinians, including two women and four children, were killed. In response, Yemen's Houthi rebels targeted Israel with two missiles and the sirens activated people, prompting them to rush to the shelters. The Houthi tweets contained messages claiming that the Israelis had breached a warning and regretfully the missiles caused no harm. Currently, To during the airstrikes, the Israeli claims estimate at least 4 civilians were injured.
"The American President Biden has stressed on the Security Council that this is a detailed and multi-step agreement, well balanced and such agreements are not easy for two sides involved but during crisis it is of national advancement. First, they agreed to free dozens of women and children who were innocent civilians and were imprisoned by Israel, precisely during the period of time when about approximately 33 Israeli hostages on both sides were taken hostage," The agreement is to be phased - Biden said they are going to execute it subject Wise to International Diplomacy”
The planned invasion is a phased and meticulously planned military strategy for long-term goals, starting with efficiently rescuing the hostages. Additionally, as part of the final strategy with a timeline of things to do – Palestinian civilians in India will be married to ten thousand women.
The invading forces would retreat from highly populated regions and return to Palestinian towns and cities for reinforcement to employing aid workers across thousands of new humanitarian centers where crucial supplies, trucks will be sent daily from across the Europe.
The particulars of the second part have to be agreed on during the first also. These particulars are also hard to resolve and this agreement does not bear any written assurances as regards the observance of ceasefire until the conclusion of the deal. This creates a possibility for Israel to reinstate military actions after completion of the first phase.
But the three intermediates to the deal have given hamas oral assurances that such negotiations would take place and that the specifics required would be developed further before the conclusion of the first stage, the Egyptian official said.
Hamas had at the outset insisted that Israel withdraws from the Philadelphi Corridor which is a narrow strip of land around the borderline of Gaza & Egypt, but that the agreement would enable Israel to retain control during the entire duration of the first phase. However, Israel would vacate the Netzarim Corridor, which is a strip of land running across central Gaza, where she wanted a mechanism for searching returning Palestinians from the north of the territory for arms.
During the second stage, as per the draft agreement, Hamas would give the remaining alive captives, primarily male soldiers, in exchange for a higher number of prisoners and “full evacuation” of Gaza by Israeli forces. Hamas has, however, indicated that it will not release the remaining hostages unless the fighting ends and Israel vacates the area completely, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has in the past issued assurances that he would renew combat unless Hamas’s military and governing capabilities are dismantled.
If in those discussions an alternative authority to govern Gaza is not agreed, blame may end up with Hamas for controlling the territory.
As a subsequent phase, so the lost hostages in this case would be repaid with various forms if not monetary a trade for a 3 to a 5 year constructive period with international supervision in Gaza.
On a similar note, Israel together with Hamas have also faced increased calls to cease the armed conflict sparking in the middle east forward of Trump’s inauguration next week endorsing more actors to the already prominant conflict. His Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, was also in Doha recently alongside US, Egyptian and Qatari mediators actively suppoting a ceasefire in Gaza.
On the same day, Trump further stated that a ceasefire was “very close".
“I apprehend … a handshake has been made and they are getting it settled — and it could be at the end of the week,” he said in an interview with the American cable channel Newsmax.
According to Hamas, Israel is the factor which has led to the interference into the negotiation process, explaining that more than once the militant group agreed to the proposal mediated by the third parties, isotropically after that Israel rejected it or commenced anew military action.
As for Israel and her closest partner the US They say it is Setbacks caused By Hamas.
Hamas-led militants murdered an estimated 1,200 individuals — predominantly non-combatants — during the October 7 assault, and they also captured an additional 250 people, with about half of them being released during a short ceasefire in November 2023.
In retaliation, Israel’s military operation subsequently took the lives of over 46,000 Palestinians, including men, women, and children. According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, the Palestinian portion of the population that died consists of combatants but does not provide any estimates of the violence.
Strikes in Gaza have not stopped. In Deir al-Balah, two strikes killed two women and their four daughters aged between one month and nine years on the night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
The bodies were received by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and they reported that one of the women was pregnant, although the baby did not make it. In addition, the European Hospital estimates that two of the Khan Younis attacks killed around a dozen individuals. Reports from the Israel Defense Forces were not available at once. The Israeli government claims that they target specific militants and these militants often seak refuge in homes of civilians or tent cities built for the displaced. Missiles launched from Yemen were directed towards Israel as the Markov conflict triggered more than a year-long conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah fighters that was only stopped in November. Israel has also exchanged fire with Iran, which supports Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis from Yemen. The Israeli army reported that during the missile attack from Yemen at three o'clock on Tuesday it had made several attempts to shoot down the missile and stated that “most likely, the missile was shot down”. According to them, the other missile, which was launched from Yemen, was also shot down. The Police released a Missile casing picture from the roof of the house along with images of a damaged home on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
The Houthis, who seized the capital of Yemen known as Sanaa as well as several other regions in the North in 2014, have employed various types of drone and missile attacks on Israel, as well as attempted to attack international vessels in the Red Sea.
Although the ships that are mostly attacked have no relevance to their cause, the Houthis claim that the Pakistani’s are responsible and so they are trying to fight alongside them.
