Jay Shah'sShah's big announcement: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced that the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) will also be available for Olympic athletes like Neeraj Chopra. The BCCI has always come forward in support of Indian athletes and the Indian Olympic Association and has contributed to the development of athletes. Recently, Jay Shah announced that the new NCA is about to be completed and will soon open for cricketers. He also said that it will not be limited to cricketers only, other athletes will also get facilities in it.

"We are going to make it (NCA) available even for Olympians like Neeraj Chopra," Jay Shah said during an interview with Times of India. The BCCI secretary also announced plans for a cricket stadium in Varanasi and six northeastern states and a seventh NCA in Jammu.

The new NCA will have great facilities

The new NCA will have world-class facilities designed to help cricketers hone their skills. It will have three international-standard playing fields and 45 practice pitches. In addition, it will have indoor cricket pitches, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and state-of-the-art training, recovery, and coaching facilities.

VVS Laxman will remain the head of NCA

Speaking to Times of India, Jay Shah confirmed that VVS Laxman's tenure will be extended and he will continue as the NCA president. This also means that whenever head coach Gautam Gambhir takes a rest, Laxman can continue coaching Team India. Laxman often replaced former India head coach Rahul Dravid. Since Laxman will continue to work with the BCCI, he cannot return to the IPL. Under BCCI rules, a coach cannot coach any team as long as he is associated with an IPL team. Laxman cannot even commentate on the IPL.
