JJP, which was in power in Haryana until a few months ago, is facing setbacks. Ever since the Haryana Assembly elections were announced, JJP is breaking up. One after the other, four MLAs have left the party, including many big names. The latest list of those who have resigned consists of the name of Ishwar Singh, who is an MLA from the Guhla reserved assembly constituency.
Three resignations have already been submitted
Earlier, MLA from Tohana seat and party's veteran leader Devendra Babli had resigned from the party. Devendra Babli is the third MLA of the Jannayak Janata Party who has resigned from the party after the announcement of elections. Earlier, Anoop Dhanak and Ramkaran Kala have resigned from the party. Continuous resignations one after the other have created a stir in the party.
Three were rebels even before
According to the information received, these four are likely to join BJP or Congress. If sources are to be believed, one or two leaders are also in touch with the BJP. JJP led by former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala had earlier demanded the disqualification of two other MLAs - Ramniwas Surjakheda and Jogi Ram Sihag - for anti-party activities. They had campaigned in favor of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. Another MLA from Narnaund, Ramkumar Gauram, was against the party for some time.
When will the assembly elections be held in Haryana
The resignation of JJP leaders comes at a time when the dates for the assembly elections have been announced. Voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 1, the Election Commission announced yesterday. The counting of votes will take place on October 4.
